Macs No Longer Invincible. Over Half a Million Computers Infected
The big news in tech today is how over half a million Mac computers have been infected with the malware known as Flashback. First detected in September, the malware has been installed by roughly 600,000 Macs around the world with over half of those located in the U.S! If it wasn’t already an insult to injure, 274 of the infected computers appear to be located in Cupertino, California – home of the computing giant. As with much of my teenage years, I’ve lived under the assumption that my Mac was invincible! How wrong was I? At the end of the day, with such a large amount of Mac’s saturating the computer market and our “superman” mindsets, this was bound to happen.
As of Wednesday, Apple has released a security update that can be installed through a simple software update. If you are unsure about whether or not your Mac has the digital STD, hit up the LINK for instructions on how to detect the malware and manually remove it from your system. Just remember that with the threat of viruses, virtual or sexual, caution and safety are great habits to keep. Refrain from downloading random “packages”, “plugins”, software updates, and taking strangers home from the bar, without first learning more about the source.
Stay safe kids! No digital glove, no digital love.
