Julie Kontos didn’t realize when she graduated from high school that her calling was in fashion design, even though many of her life experiences had pointed in that direction. She came from a long line of various types of artists including her grandmother, a children’s clothing designer, who sold her pieces at local boutiques, but passed away before Julie was born.

Julie first learned to sew… while creating tiny doll clothes through a porcelain doll-making class at age 9. Growing up she worked in her aunt’s bridal shop and even attended bridal fashion shows in New York. This is where Julie says the world of fashion made an impact on her. She later went on to Lasell College where she graduated in 2007 with a BS in Fashion Design & Production.

Julie currently designs her fashion-forward pieces for friends and charity events. Her signature style is “classic with an edge” and she loves playing with volume and different silhouettes. Besides fashion, Julie’s other interests include dancing, music and art; all of which constantly inspire her. Her most recent collection, she says is “future-inspired, rocker chic!” Her inspiration was the music, technology and pop culture of today.
