Melissa Robin is currently based in Connecticut. She specializes in emotional photography primarily photographing models, children, pets & weddings. Her work can be described as both moving & creative. Over the years her style has developed into something organic, emotional, & original. She strives to capture the heart, soul & personality of her subjects. Most of her work is photographed on location, where her subjects’ true colors shine through her camera. Melissa mainly travels to beautiful locations all over New England and has also traveled the world to photograph her subjects. She truly believes the environment brings a whole new level to the emotional response one receives when looking at her photography.

“There is always something churning deep inside of me, something indescribable, something that can’t be spoken or written down, something that can only be captured and created behind my camera. Speaking in photographs. I consider myself a capturer of moments. I photograph to tell a story and for the moments between movements.”

Melissa has always had a passion for the arts. In high school, she pursued every form of art she could get her hands on. Eventually, this led her into the darkroom where her first photography teacher began to mentor her. Film photography led to digital and since then has focused on mastering both forms. From then on, Melissa has pursued her photography career in full force. She started out photographing fellow students and friends in early high school. By senior year was running a senior photography business which included professionally photographing students in her graduating class. This also led to band and music documentation photography. The early years of her career began blossoming into fine art photography with the goal of capturing the human emotion and translating true personality into a photograph.

Upon graduating from Salem High School, she entered Hallmark Institute of Photography, taking full advantage of working with a variety of photographers throughout New England. This opened her eyes to the world of portrait and wedding photography. Capturing moments and mixing that with her edgy fine-art style is something in which she has truly found to be her niche. Melissa excelled at Hallmark, graduating in 2008 with her portrait/wedding portfolio at the top ten percent of her class. Along with her photography business, Melissa is currently working on a number of photographic exploration series, including; Drown, Apocalypse, Heart Attack, Flight of the Dancers, Energy & Masquerade. Images from these series have received multiple publications, awards and have been displayed in galleries around New England. The first image from the Drown series, “Flood” was honored at the 2008 International Photography awards, winning first place editorial. She plans to take the series worldwide and to have six books ready for publishing in the next couple of years.
