Anh Phung Chung, an undergraduate student at Northeastern University studying Finance and Accounting, is an aspiring model in the Boston community. As a model who has participated in the Unity Fashion Show for the last three years, she has grown to be a confident and inspiring role model to young females. Through her experience with Unity Fashion Show, she has learned skill sets and techniques in modeling, communication, and an ability to translate constructive criticism and instructions in a positive light. Personally, she has gained more confidence and self-expression skills, as well as leadership. Utilizing her talent and the modeling techniques she has gained from Unity Fashion Show, she has educated the girls in her community about the confidence one can gain through modeling.

A model, she says, “is a blank canvas painted and dressed by the work of make-up artists, hair stylists, and designers. As a piece of art, a model illustrates the vision and story of the designer’s work on the runway through elements of modeling as well as acting.” It is a craft that takes time and commitment to master, a challenge she finds herself in with her academic and co-op schedule throughout the year and during tax season. Nevertheless, her passion for modeling always pulls through as she finds time to model in college and local fashion shows, as well as photo shoots.

As a business student, she has learned how to take her skills in strategizing and problem solving to better construct ways to embody the designer’s vision. She has also utilized her team work skills in the fashion setting as she works along the side with designers, choreographers, and models.

As a role model to young girls as well as aspiring female models, she parts with, “Believe in yourself and follow your passion,” “Hard work and patience will take you far with where you want to be,” and “Keep an open mind to everything as it will allow you to meet new people and open up opportunities.”
