True Expression: Jennifer Chen

Jennifer Chen is currently at Northeastern University pursuing her Bachelors in Business Administration in Marketing and Accounting with a minor in Communication Studies. This young, up and coming entrepreneur realized her passion for fashion and art. Not long after discovering her calling, In the spring of 2009, Jennifer founded The Unity Fashion Show with the support of The Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity at Northeastern University.

Jennifer took her business savvy and innovation to create her own reputable brand image for the Unity Fashion Show. The event’s mission is to highlight dimensions of diversity by displaying the artistic talents of high school and college students, along with local designers, performers, and models. Her vision was to create an event that embraced all that makes us individuals; differences in community background and affiliation, in addition to preferences in style and fashion.

Each year, local and student designers from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York collaborate to present their new collections to the fashion world. Musical and vocal performances, giveaways, and raffles are included throughout the evening, while local salons, make-up artists, and hair stylists provide their hair and make-up artistry.

In January 2010, she founded Expression by Jennifer Chen, a multi-faceted business catering to all aspects of the fashion industry; offering products and services in fashion design, fashion photography, modeling training, and event planning. In addition to these products and services, she also founded The Fashion Hub, a group dedicated to updating members in the local fashion community on fashion related events and opportunities, as well as featured models, designers, and events of the week. Currently, The Fashion Hub updates 1,300 people a week!

With her tremendous ambition and undeniable passion for fashion, Jennifer Chen is quickly becoming the next big thing in the world of art and fashion. We plan on seeing more of her in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. This budding titan of industry has taken the Boston fashion scene by storm and soon the rest of the World.
